BABS1201 - Cells, Molecules and Genes
Biology
Modern biology is the study of the living world; we need to understand the relationships among levels of organisations
- Interaction among organic molecules
- Interaction among cells in organs
- Interaction among organ systems in an organism
- Interaction between organisms and the environment
- Interaction among individuals in a population
- Interaction among species in a biological communities
Biology is about scientific fact. Evolution is a scientific fact, but it does not explain the origins of life. We do not believe in evolution, we know that it is true.
Darwin's Four Postulates **Examinable
- Individuals within a species are variable
- Some of these variations are passed onto their offspring
- In every generation more offspring are produced than can survive
- (therefore) Survival and reproduction are not random
